I begin the process of carving a sign by choosing the right wood. For this sign, I'm using 4" redwood. The boards above have been planed, jointed and prepped for doweling and gluing.		 Process of carving a custom wood sign by Carved Wood Signs

3/8" hardwood dowels and marine quality two part glue are used to join the pieces into a solid panel.		 Process of carving a custom wood sign by Carved Wood Signs

Next the panel is sanded on both sides, the general shape of the sign is cut and faces are coated with cheap white wall paint to receive the sign layout.
