The final paint step is a dark stain which accentuates the detail carving in the scales and hair.

For marine situations such as boats, a stainless steel mounting bracket is created. Reverse tapered holes are created in the back of the figurehead into which resin plugs are poured to keep the stainless steel screws from pulling out of the sign foam material.
