As the figurehead nears completion, it was test fitted to the front of the boat.

(This step although nice to do is not always possible, and with carefully prepared bow tracings and width measurements it is not absolutely necessary.)

The detail is so fine that each individual scale is carved as well as many long sweeping strands of hair.
